Boarder Leadership Conference 2026

TUESDAY 27 OCTOBER 2026

The ABSA Boarder Leadership Conference brings together boarders from across Australia and New Zealand for an engaging online day dedicated to developing the next generation of boarding leaders.

Designed specifically for boarders stepping into leadership roles within their residential communities, the conference gives students the opportunity to connect with other young leaders, share ideas and develop practical skills they can take directly back into their boarding houses.

ABSA is proud to once again partner with Burn Bright, experts in delivering engaging and impactful leadership programs for secondary school students. Together, we have created a program that combines inspiring keynote speakers, interactive sessions, experiential learning and practical leadership development.

Throughout the day, boarders will explore what it means to lead within the unique environment of boarding — from building relationships and positively influencing others to understanding their own leadership style and turning ideas into action.

With no travel required, students can join from wherever they are and spend the day learning alongside fellow boarder leaders from schools across Australia and New Zealand.

Our aim is for every student to finish the conference feeling more confident, more connected and ready to make a positive impact within their boarding community.

To attend the conference, we will require boarders to take a period of time off school as detailed below:

Tuesday 27 October

  • India - 5:30am to 9.30am (30 minute break at 7:30am)
  • WA/China/Singapore - 8:00am to 12:00pm (30 minute break at 10:00am)
  • NT - 9:30am to 1.30pm (30 minute break at 11.30am)
  • QLD - 10:00am to 2:00pm (30 minute break at 12:00pm)
  • SA - 10:30am to 2:30pm (30 minute break at 12:30pm)
  • NSW/ACT/VIC/TAS - 11:00am to 3pm (30 minute break at 1:00pm)

Please note this conference is specifically designed for boarders who are entering into a leadership position. The position could include:

  • Boarding House Captains
  • Vice Captains
  • Boarder Committee Groups
  • Boarding Prefects

The Speakers and sessions target incoming Year 11 and 12 Boarding Leaders for 2027.

We do not expect all schools to have chosen their boarding leaders yet and therefore invite a range of leader candidates to attend.

Key Information:

  • The conference will be held via Zoom.
  • Boarders will be required to login on individual devices and have access to a headset so they can participate in discussion groups.
  • We strongly recommend a supervisor in the room with your boarders.
