Vape Detection and Campus Safety: Apex Secure Tech

Vaping is one of the most significant health and wellbeing challenges facing today's boarding communities. At Apex Secure Tech, we help schools respond — with privacy first vape detection built specifically for the bathrooms, dorm rooms and common areas where incidents happen most.
Apex Secure Tech is an Australian-built and Australian-owned company delivering safety technology purpose-designed for the boarding school environment. Our approach is grounded in one core principle: pastoral care, not surveillance. We believe schools deserve technology that protects student wellbeing without compromising student privacy or dignity.
Our detectors use multi-sensor environmental monitoring to identify vape incidents with a level of accuracy well above single-sensor systems. Within the detector itself there are no cameras, no microphones, and no student identification or personal data captured — only air quality.
Alongside detectors, our platform includes camera systems for the common areas where visual monitoring belongs. Detectors and cameras are managed together from a single dashboard, giving duty staff one connected safety layer across the whole boarding house.
When a vape event is detected, staff receive notifications within seconds — so that intervention happens early, quietly, and pastorally. Because boarding is a 24/7 environment, our platform is built for the way duty rosters actually run — multi-tenant admin, per-boarding-house structure, and staff-level access controls come as standard.
PRIVACY FIRST BY DESIGN
Our commitment to student privacy is what sets Apex Secure Tech apart. In the spaces where boarders live and learn — dormitories, showers, bathrooms — cameras and microphones don't belong. They can't be there legally, ethically, or in line with contemporary safeguarding standards.

That's why our detectors sense only the air. No student is ever identified by an alert. Our platform is designed to give duty staff the information they need to intervene early, without turning a boarding house into a surveillance zone. It's technology that respects the same trust boarding houses have always been built on.
We work closely with each school to design a coverage plan that fits their campus, their culture and their duty of care obligations. Every deployment starts with a virtual coverage plan session, followed by staged rollout, staff onboarding and ongoing support and reviews. Our Australian-based support team is available during the hours that actually matter to boarding staff.
A PARTNERSHIP FOR THE BOARDING SECTOR
Apex Secure Tech is proud to partner with ABSA to support the association's member schools across Australia and New Zealand. Our team looks forward to working with boarding leaders, business managers and pastoral care staff to help create safer, healthier and more supportive environments for every boarder.
