Boarder Leadership Conference 2022

The ABSA Boarder Leadership Conference is an online day designed to assist our boarders to be successful in the unique leadership roles within our residential communities. The conference will have a range of collaborative lecture style sessions to ensure practical leadership skills and plans can be taken away and used within the boarding setting. ABSA have engaged Burn Bright who are experts in running engaging and impactful leadership programs for high school students to jointly host this conference. Through experiential learning and inspirational team leadership from keynote speakers and practical sessions with the engaging youthful team at Burn Bright, our aim is for boarders to leave confident and with the knowledge about how to lead in a boarding setting.

To attend the conference, we will require boarders to take a period of time off school as detailed below:

Tuesday 13 September

  • India - 5:30am to 10:00am (30 minute break at 7:30am)
  • WA/Singapore - 8:00am to 12:30pm (30 minute break at 10:00am)
  • SA/NT - 9:30am to 2:00pm (30 minute break at 11:30am)
  • QLD/NSW/ACT/VIC/TAS - 10:00am to 2:30pm (30 minute break at 12:00pm)
  • New Zealand - 12:00pm to 4:30pm (30 minute break at 2:00pm)

Please note this conference is specifically designed for boarders who are entering into a leadership position. The position could include:

  • Boarding House Captains
  • Vice Captains
  • Boarder Committee Groups
  • Boarding Prefects

The Speakers and sessions target incoming Year 11 and 12 Boarding Leaders for 2022.

We do not expect all schools to have chosen their boarding leaders yet and therefore invite a range of leader candidates to attend.

Key Information:

  • The conference will be held via Zoom.
  • Boarders will be required to login on individual devices and have access to a headset so they can participate in discussion groups.
  • We strongly recommend a supervisor in the room with your boarders.
