At PLC, we believe everyone has their own excellence just waiting to be uncovered. Whether it is in the classroom, on the stage, in the laboratory or on the sporting field, we encourage and inspire students to find their excellence and embrace life’s opportunities with confidence.

PLC is modern Melbourne, a school for today's girls with a rich heritage, a welcoming community and an exciting future. Founded in 1875, PLC has a proud tradition of producing young women of the highest calibre who go on to make a significant contribution in their world.

PLC’s on-campus Boarding House provides a friendly, supportive home for over 80 girls from country Victoria, interstate and overseas. Boarders enjoy a rich and exciting environment that sets them on the pathway to becoming confident, independent and compassionate young women. Through boarding girls participate across the wide range of co-curricular programs that challenge them as they thrive and grow.

We instil in girls a love of learning within a broad stimulating curriculum that celebrates encouragement, respect and self-discipline. Our outstanding holistic education focuses on each girl’s personal growth and leadership. Our staff are highly involved in their students’ learning journeys and focus on the individual student, nurturing and affirming girls, enabling them to achieve their personal goals.

At PLC, girls are also encouraged to stretch themselves and become critical thinkers and problem-solvers, able to look outside themselves at the challenges facing their world and take responsibility for helping and contributing where they can.

In recent years, the College has undergone an unprecedented transformation that has seen the development of a state-of-the-art new Performing Arts Centre; a new Learning Resource Centre, a new library, IT and AV labs; a dedicated Year 7 Centre, a new hockey and tennis facility, the complete redevelopment of our Science Precinct facilities and the total transformation of the Year 7, 8 and 9 classroom precinct.

PLC offers a comprehensive curriculum from Early Learning Centre (ELC) to Year 12 and offers both the VCE and International Baccalaureate (IB). The Class of 2017 again achieved outstanding academic success with three girls achieving an ATAR of 99.95, 45 per cent achieving an ATAR of 95+ and 66 per cent achieving an ATAR of 90+.

PLC offers academic, music, general excellence and boarding scholarships for girls entering at Years 7 to 11 in Senior School. Daughters and granddaughters of Old Collegians are encouraged to apply.
