Founded in 1846, Launceston Church Grammar School is the oldest continuously operating Anglican day & boarding school in Australia and it has a distinguished reputation for providing outstanding education in Tasmania. Students respond to this rich heritage with pride. Striving for excellence is the foundation.

Launceston Grammar is a dynamic community strongly committed to Christian principles. The values of justice, tolerance and compassion are acknowledged in all endeavours. We believe there is genuine warmth in each welcome, a respect for and interest in each individual, and an honest pursuit of the truth in all endeavours. We aspire to the highest standards of behaviour and achievement, and this is demonstrated amongst the students and staff by an emphasis on strong, supportive teamwork.

Fostering the partnership between the family and the school through clear and continuous communication is a key to our students’ success.

Launceston Grammar offers a contemporary and interesting range of academic subjects, designed to capture a student’s curiosity and develop a lifelong love of learning. The results of our senior students are testimony to the high standards our teachers set and the determination of our students to reach them. We hold great expectations for all our students at Launceston Grammar. They may, for example, reap the rewards from participating in our world - class program in Outdoor Education, our imaginative and innovative art experiences or our inspired music curriculum. We celebrate the personal achievements and successes of our youngest Early Learning children right through to those young men and women in the senior school years.

Launceston Grammar has two campuses: the Broadland Campus and the Mowbray Campus. The Broadland Campus is located in East Launceston (five minutes from the CBD) and caters for Early Learning to Grade 6 and the Mowbray Campus is located in Mowbray (ten minutes from the CBD) and caters for Grades 7 to 12.

The Boarding House, which can accommodate up to 100 boarders, is located at the Mowbray Campus and provides places for students from Grades 5 to 12. There are separate buildings for boys and girls, with common facilities for recreation including a 25m Indoor Swimming Pool and dining. We have a dedicated team of staff consisting of 2 Heads of Boarding and Tutors who provide the care for your child.
