Ipswich Grammar School is a non-denominational boys only boarding school that was established in 1863.
As Queensland’s first secondary school, Ipswich Grammar’s boarding facilities consist of two boarding towers located on the expansive Grammar School Hill. Accommodation includes en-suite style rooms for two to four boys.
Each room is air-conditioned and provides students with individual study areas. All boys are supervised on-site by boarding masters who also assist students at study and meal times while ensuring for the wellbeing of all members of the boarding community.
Recreational facilities include access to the full range of school facilities which include the gymnasium, indoor sports facilities, beach volleyball, Olympic-size heated swimming pool and various ovals and tennis courts. Each tower has its own large screen TV, computer and reading rooms and kitchenette for student use.
Our boarding community comes from a wide range of backgrounds. This, coupled with our caring and supportive environment and our commitment to boys’ education, ensures the IGS boarding experience is both enjoyable and rewarding.
