Kormilda College from its Christian foundation seeks to inspire its students to be life-long learners who act with compassion and justice through their understanding of others, and who develop the wisdom and courage to shape the future.
An Anglican and Uniting Church day and boarding secondary College, Kormilda caters for students from Year 6 to Year 12. The College is located on a spacious campus on the outskirts of Darwin City at Berrimah and has a student population of almost 1000. About one third of Kormilda students are indigenous and most of those are boarding students.
Kormilda’s residential programme caters for up to 180 in two boarding houses where the accommodation is based on single, twin or quad share rooms. The majority of boarding students are indigenous children who come from remote north Australian communities. Kormilda College has one of the largest indigenous boarding populations of any secondary school in the country. Kormilda’s dedicated and caring residential team are all trained in cross-cultural awareness and undertake training in an accredited Residential Care programme.
Academically, the College has a Primary, Middle and Senior School structure that caters for a broad range of needs. Senior students can study either the Northern Territory Certificate of Education including an extensive Vocational and Education Training programme or the International Baccaulareate Diploma which is an internationally recognised two year preuniversity course. Kormilda College is also a CIS internationally accredited school.
