St Catherine’s is Australia’s oldest independent Anglican girls’ school from Kindergarten to Year 12, catering for boarders from Year 7. Our purpose is to develop young women of character and intellect who are equipped to make their unique contribution to the world.
St Catherine’s School is a dynamic and supportive learning environment offering a broad, challenging and vibrant education designed to unlock the unique potential of every girl. We welcome all backgrounds, faiths and abilities, acknowledging that diversity enriches our community. We offer a broad, differentiated curriculum plus other forms of enrichment and extension. The academic curriculum is complemented by strong cocurricular programs in sport, music, performing arts and service education.
We only have 60 places in our boarding house at St Catherine’s and that's just the way we like it. We're one big international family living here at school. Our boarders are from Asia Pacific and regional Australia which is a real blending of country friendliness and cultural diversity. The girls have a cosy space in the boarding house to call their own. Newly decorated in a fresh contemporary style, with ample desk space, storage, clever shelving and lighting, each girl has privacy for study and rest.
Our boarders are involved with just as many after-school activities as day girls. Whether that be sports, dancing, debating or robotics club, there is plenty to choose from in our Beyond the Curriculum program. If they choose, boarders can attend the school’s prep centre to study in the collaborative space of our research centre until 5.30pm (or 9pm for Years 11 and 12).
Weekends are fun with organised outings for Years 7–9 after lunch on Sundays. Older girls are always welcome but many organise their own social outings or like to relax in their own space.
Many dedicated people are integral to the comfortable and caring atmosphere of our boarding house. From the school chaplain, residential supervisors and the boarding manager, life in the boarding house runs very smoothly with the care and comfort of our students at the very heart.
